The main characters are Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker. Originally it was Luke's story but then it became his father's story.
R2-D2 and to a lesser degree C-3PO are the narrators. Which isn't always the main character, and in this case, isnt.

There isn’t one. Luke is more or less the main character do the OT but the rest do t really have a single main character.
@ScoutTrooper99 do you mean just ANH, or the whole franchise? Definitely luke for ANH, and the whole franchise too I guess, although vader, sidious, kenobi, leia, han, chewbacca, r2d2, c3po, and yoda also play very prominent roles. It's more of a group or ensemble cast franchise, with no one character really being the main character.

The OG 6 did focus on the rise, fall, and redemption of Anakin but Star Wars definitely is too large to have a single main character.
Kyp Durron is the true main character.
He is a bot in SWBF.
George Lucas confirmed in an interview that the story is all about Anakin/Vader. Luke was just the catalyst to turned Anakin/Vader to turn back to the light side fulfilling the Chosen One prophecy.
But Luke was intended to be the main character of Star Wars. In the Star Wars EU, Luke Skywalker was very prominent in the Post-Return of the Jedi Era which made me think that Luke Skywalker definitely supposed to be the main character.

I'd say Anakin is the main character of the PT and Luke is the main character of the OT and they are both the main characters of the Skywalker Saga.
Every piece Star Wars content has its own main character (like how Jyn Erso is the main character of Rogue One and then Din Djarin is the main character of The Mandalorian).
If I had to pick one, it would be R2-D2, simply because he appears in a lot of Star Wars media and is quite important in many of the storylines. But, I don't think there is a main character because it is too big.
Like the MCU?
