LAFAYETTE — The 2024 spring sports season has come to an end but there's still one last piece of debate before saying goodbye.
Which player had the most memorable highlight? There are plenty to choose between from photo-finish races to record-breaking runs, clutch putts, dazzling catches and untouchable innings. It's the fans' turn to vote on which athlete had the top play of the spring season.
Below are highlights and a poll to vote an unlimited number of times before the poll closes Friday at noon. A winner will be announced Saturday morning.

From the moment the ball pinged off her opponent's bat, sophom*ore catcher Airy Lattimore was ready to spring during the Oracles' first matchup with rival Carroll on April 18. Lattimore turned, crashed into the fence and got the ball back to the infield. Delphi would go on to win that game 16-4.

Lafayette Jeff senior Maria De La Cruz and fellow classman Park Peterson were neck and neck during the IHSAA girls track and field sectional at Scheumann Stadium on May 15. Neither Peterson nor De La Cruz surrendered a gasp as they approached the finish line. De La Cruz kept her stride while Peterson lunged at the last second. De La Cruz's form would ultimately be the factor in beating out Peterson with a time of 16.12 seconds, one-hundredth faster than Peterson, who finished second in 16.13 seconds.

Negron-Carrero sprinted into the history books during the IHSAA boys track and field sectional at the West Lafayette Athletic Complex on May 17. Negron-Carrero, the future Purdue runner timed the 400 meters in 48.82 seconds previously held by Troy Larson of McCutcheon since 1994.

Hardly anyone could touch McCutcheon sophom*ore pitcher Sammy Swank during the IHSAA sectional matchup against Harrison. Swank threw a complete game and delivered his 12 strikeouts to lift the Mavericks to a 1-0 win. McCutcheon would later win its first sectional title since 2004.

Taylor University is getting an advanced defensive player Benton Central senior shortstop Tyler Klemme, who turned a would-be single into an inning-ending out for the Bison, who later captured the IHSAA Class 2A sectional championship.
