Today was like any other day. You woke up next to your beautiful girlfriend Jenna and got ready for work. You were a firefighter at station 35 and your girl was an actor who was currently working on a new movie. She was amazing at her job and you really enjoyed watching all her films and tv shows. You’re 20 years old and have been part of this fire house for almost a year now and they’re already like your second family.
You got out of bed carefully, trying not to wake your sleeping beauty. You took a quick shower, brushed your teeth, and head off to make breakfast. You decided on a simple avocado toast and even made one for Jenna. You went back into your shared room to wake her up because e you knew she had to head to set early this morning.
You kissed her gently on her cheek before whispering, “Good morning mi amor.”
She let out a soft groan and turned to face you, “Good morning baby”
“I made you breakfast my love”
“Oh thank you” she giggled.
“I have to get going but i’ll see you later for dinner tonight mi amor” you gave her a peck before leaving to the station

You were on engine today so you haven’t left the fire house much. Your captain was going to let you off early since your 1 year anniversary was today and his daughter was a huge fan. You did have to promise to get him an autographed picture for her but at least you got off early. You hadn’t heard from Jenna in a couple hours but you brushed it off because you knew she was busy at work.
You were helping your friend Vic make lunch for the house when you heard dispatch over the intercom, “All units, structure fire.”
Everyone ran to get their gear on as quickly as possible. As you were putting your gear on you hear your captain say we’re the fire was. Your heart stopped. You felt you were gonna be sick, but you knew you had to get there fast. When you sat in the truck Vic looked over at you and noticed the look on your face.
“Hey you good? You look like you’re gonna be sick” she let out a nervous chuckle.
You turned to her with a black face, “The address we’re going to is where Jenna is filming.”
You watched as her smile faded. She looked back at the road and floored it. Flying through the street to get there as quickly as possible. You were grateful to have a friend like her.
When you arrived you frantically looked around trying to find your girl. All you could see was crew members and some other people. Your captain talks to a crew member to find out if anyone is in the house they were filming in. He finds out there are at least 5 people still in there.
“Y/ L/ N, Alvarez, Garcia and Chen, you’re on find and rescue, Bishop and I will spray down on the fire from the latter, and Roberts and Hernandez you’re on aid car. Let’s move people!”
You were happy to be put on find and rescue that way you could look for your girl and make sure she stays safe. Except as you’re about to run in you hear someone call out for you. You turn quickly and spit your girl, she has ash marks on her face and looks very sweaty. You run to her. Your bodies collide into each other.
“I was so scared y/n” she says breathing heavily.
“I know baby I know. Listen to me, I have to go in there and find more people but i’ll be right back okay. I’ll be right back I promise” she looks scared but she’s safe and you have a job to do.
She nods and kisses you hard, “I love you y/n”
“I love you more” you say as you pull away and run into the burning building.
As you step in side Alvarez is coming out with a woman passed out in his arms. You keep going in clearing all the rooms in the house as you search. Walking past a door in the living room you hear a thump. You step back and open the door to see a man leaning against the side passed out . You quickly check his pulse, it’s weak but he’s alive. You through him over your shoulder and make your way to the front door. Emts come ruing with a gurney and take him to the ambulance. You smile as you walk towards Jenna when a lady comes running out of the house next door.
“HELP! HELP! MY SON! I CANT FIND HIM”
You make your way towards her instead, “Ma’am, ma’am calm down. Where was your son when you last saw him.”
“He was in the backyard and I went inside to get him a drink but when I came back out he was gone. Our houses have a fence that connects and it was open when I came back out. And he loves firefighters you don’t think he may have went into the house to try and fight the fire.” she was rambling, rightfully so her kid could be in a burning building.
“Okay ma’am i will look for him. What’s his name?”
“Charlie. His name is Charlie. He’s 7.”
“Okay ma’am stay here I will bring him to you” she nodded frantically.
You ran over to your captain who was only about 3 feet away from Jenna. Before you can get a word in he says, “The house structure isn’t stable, it most likely will collapse, best we can do now is put out the fire after it goes down”
“No cap I have to go back in-“
“No y/l/n it could go down at any moment stand down”
f*ck it.
You grabbed your helmet and ran back in. Hearing your fellow firefighters yelling your name. Maddie holding Jenna back from running in here. She heard what your captain said, she knew how dangerous it was for you to run back in there. She yelled your name once more,sobbing as you disappeared through the door again.
You were now upstairs frantically searching for the boy, “Charlie! Charlie buddy come out! If you’re in here let me know where you’re at Charlie!”
“I’m here! please help me!” it was coming from the bathroom.

Outside Jenna was crying in her friend’s arms, while your team tried to get a hold of you and figuring out a plan to get you out. A loud crash is heard, heads snap in the direction of the house as they watch half of the house collapse on itself.
“NO! Y/N! LET ME GO! LET ME GO! Y/N!” despite her protest Maddie does not let Jenna go.
Fearing that if she loosened her grip even a little Jenna would run out of her hands and into what’s left of the burning house. Jenna sobs into Maddie’s arms while your team looks at the fire in shock. They lost you. That’s what’s going through their mind. The little boys mom now sobbing while a Alvarez hold her up
“Please no please I can’t lose my y/n” Jenna says in between sobs.
Maddie feels her heart break for the girl in her arms. Tears slip from her eyes as she looks at the collapsed building.

Mean while inside the house. You picked up the boy and held on tightly. You raced down the stairs before you heard something crack. You knew you could happen if you didn’t get out quick. The front door was too far. You looked back and saw the back door wide open. With every last bit of energy you had you sprinted out the back. As you run out the house you tell the kid to hold his breath and you jump into the pool. Hopping that it shields you from the flying debris. Luckily it does. You’re under the water for less than ten seconds before you it’s save to come up for air. You pull yourself and Charlie out of the pool.
As you are both catching your breath he looks at you and says, “That was amazing.”
You chuckle at the kid, “Let’s get you to your mom Charlie shes worried about you.”
You lift up the boy into your arms before making your way to the side of the house where there is a door that leads to the front yard.
As you walk out the boys mother runs to you yelling, “CHARLIE! Oh thank god you’re okay. Thank you so much for saving my boy.”
When Jenna hears the woman yell she looks up at you in shock. You haven’t noticed her state yet.
“Of course ma’am” you flash her a smile that would make any woman’s knees weak.
You search for your girl, when you spotted her your heart broke. You ran to her and went in for a hug. But she shoved you back.
“You could have died!” shove. “I thought you died!” shove. “That was so stupid, you heard what your captain said” shove.
You grabbed her arms to stop her from pushing you, “Baby look at me. I’m okay and I just had to save that kid, I had to.”
“I know. I was just scared. I thought you died.” you held her close to you and she cried in your arms.
“Please like you could get rid of me that easy.” you said as you struggled to breathe.
Vic came up to you and shoved an oxygen mask into your face, “Breathe.”
You knew she was mad at you, and you knew your Captain was too. But today was a win in your book.
“So much for our anniversary dinner” Jenna chuckled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back at home Jenna just held you tightly. Terrified that if she let you go you’d disappear.
“Mi amor I’m not going anywhere i’m yours all week” you whispered in her ear.
Seeing as your captain had given you a week off to spend time with your loved one. And Jenna’s shooting had been postponed till further notice for obvious reasons. You both just held on to each other, never wanting to let go.
“I love you y/n”
“I love you too Jenna”
