Looking to shift your career into a different industry but don’t know where to start? Try this: 👇🏻If you currently work at ABC Corp. which is in one industry but would love to work for XYZ Inc. which is in another industry…Head to the search bar 🔎 and type in: “ABC Corp.”Select “People”Select “Current Company” and type in “XYZ Inc.”You will now have a list of everyone who presently works at your target company AND also previously worked at your current company. Now, cold message them saying that you’re looking to make the same transition they did and you would love to hear more about how they did it.Easy breezy.👍🏻Ron Reed, CPRW / Reed Résumés

Here’s a prime example of why you should always have a polished resume ready to rock n’ roll. You may be an incredible employee, but your loose cannon of an employer might over-hire by (checks notes)….a couple thousand people. From the article:"Unlike last year, where our reduction was driven by cost savings, we are taking this action because we need to simplify our organization to make it easier and faster for us to make decisions, and help us to more effectively grow revenue and hires."AKA“We recklessly over-hired with that free government covid money and turned into a bloated, inefficient machine.”

1 of the best parts about operating Reed Résumés is getting to work with some of the most genuinely interesting people around. A few of my clients from the last month include:∙ One of Mike Tyson's former bodyguards (can you even imagine??😅)∙ The self proclaimed most-tattooed member of the NYPD∙ Someone who has worked directly for multiple celebrity chefs you would definitely recognize from Food NetworkNever a dull moment over here! For more job search related content, follow Ron Reed, CPRW / Reed Résumés.

Most resumes: “I sell widgets.” Boooooooo. 👎🏻 My resumes: “Earned 2023 President’s Award for driving 18% YoY sales growth while simultaneously navigating unprecedented supply chain challenges.” BANG.👌🏻 You’re great at what you do. Spell it out and own the narrative. With extreme clarity. You will be called in for an interview based on your past performance. And you will be hired if your next employer is convinced that you can replicate that level of performance for them.Give me a follow: Ron Reed, CPRW / Reed Résumés

Is your LinkedIn feed as negative as mine?∙ Recruiters suck.∙ The job market sucks. ∙ The ATS is out to get me.∙ Recruiters ghost me!∙ Candidates ghost me!∙ "A trend I've been seeing lately that NEEDS to stop...."∙ Recruiters don't give me feedback.∙ Remote only!∙ Return to office!😳 While there is some truth to some of these gripes:1) Avoid the pity party. As a job seeker, there is zero upside to engaging in such public displays of negativity. You may experience a fleeting moment of righteousness or victory, but the potential price is too high. You may get a ton of likes, but actual hiring managers will think you're a whiney sh*t-stirrer. It's also supremely unproductive.2) Keep perspective. There are countless happily employed folks out there who are thriving. And they are not posting on LinkedIn all day.3) Consider the source. Not all voices should be given equal consideration and not every post is DEFCON 1. Have a relaxing weekend! 😎
